Vineyards go back a long way in Castell’ Arquato, which boasts a well stocked civic wine bar and many wine cellars. Monterosso Valdarda Doc of the Colli Piacentini takes its name from a hill near the ancient town and is produced only in the surrounding valleys so it is the local wine by definition. Other great Doc wines from the area are Ortrugo, Malvasia, Sauvignon and, among the reds, Gutturnio and Bonarda.
