PRODUCTS
Vineyards go back a long way in Castell’ Arquato, which boasts
a well stocked civic wine bar and many wine cellars. Monterosso Valdarda
Doc of the Colli Piacentini takes its name from a hill near the ancient
town and is produced only in the surrounding valleys so it is the local
wine by definition. Other great Doc wines from the area are Ortrugo,
Malvasia, Sauvignon and, among the reds, Gutturnio and Bonarda.
TYPICAL FOOD
Anolini in broth (anvein in dialect): while, in the rest of the
Piacenza area they are stuffed with coke meat, here they are
stuffed with Padania cheese amalgamated with breadcrumbs and
herbs. The broth is made of chicken, beef and veal. .
The local gastronomic patrimony is rich is cold cuts. Three of
these have a “Dop” distinction: coppa, pancetta and
salame piacentino.
In the village of Vigolo Marchese there is a sort of chocolate
tart made of secret ingredients
