MISSION
The Pro Loco of Castell’Arquato, with the collaboration and
contribution of the Town Council of Castell’Arquato, the Fondazione
di Piacenza e Vigevano, the Province of Piacenza and Casa Illica,
promote an opera competition conceived to offer the new generation
of opera singers authentic spaces to perfect their studies and to
obtain professional opportunities. This is the new scope the International “Luigi
Illica” Prize has set itself after almost 50 years of glorious
activity.
Created in 1961 to celebrate the name of the great librettist e
theatre writer Luigi Illica, the Illica Prize has, in the past,
honoured
the greatest opera stars, conductors, directors and cultural figures.
With this wealth of experience, today the Pro Loco of Castell’Arquato
together with the Town Council aims to transform the biannual prize,
alternating the space consecrated to the world’s most affirmed
artists with one dedicated to new talents.
We offer the finalists of the 1st International Illica Opera Stage
Voice Competition the opportunity of working with authoritative
teachers of great prestige, during a master class designed to help
them achieve
the best of their own potential, both vocally and theatrically.
The competition will close with a final concert in which the singers
will show off not only their musical talent but also their gifts
for theatrical interpretation.
In order to offer the Competition’s winners and finalists
the widest opportunities for visibility and professional development
the organizers will promote concerts and operatic opportunities
in
collaboration with other institutions and arts organizations.
